“Can I get Edward’s number?” Tessa asked as soon as Connor joined her in the room.
“Why?”
“He left so sudden and I didn’t have the chance to thank him properly” Tessa replied.
“Well I don’t have his number” Connor said.
“But Granny Susie told me he left his number with you and….”
“I don’t have his number and you shouldn’t be calling him ” he snap, startling Tessa.
“Look, Edward and I didn’t part in the best of term and though am grateful for him saving you and bringing you back to me safely, I don’t want you being friends with him” Connor said having that worried look on his face.
“Can I at least ask you why?” Tessa said.
Letting out a sigh, he pulled her into his arms.
“It’s just something that happened between us years ago. You don’t have to concern yourself with it” he replied while giving her a kiss on the neck.
“I couldn’t get to sleep last night because you weren’t in my arms” he whispered into her ear.
“So am your sleeping pills now right?” She asked which got him shrugging.
“Don’t ever give me such a scar again. You are my life, Tessa”
“And you are mine” Tessa replied as she pulled his head down for a kiss.
A kiss which led to a delectable night of passion.

Ignoring the admiring glance sent his way, ken headed straight to Fiona’s tent.
He could hear her laughter from outside and when he walk in, she didn’t even notice him cause she was very much engross with whoever she was talking to on the phone.
“I also want to be in your arms but it’s quite risky for us, perhaps when we get back home” he heard her say into the reciever.
“I know it’s tomorrow but we can definitely wait till then…okay, l love you too” she added still unaware of Ken presence.
“Is he the guy you are in love with?” Ken asked startling her.
“What are you doing in here?”
“I asked first” Ken replied.
“Does it mean that I have to answer you! I want you to leave” she said as she made to walk past him but he pulled her back.
“How dare you make a fool out of me? Never have I chased a girl in my entire life and you, the first girl to receive that privilege mocks my feeling!” Ken yelled down at her.
“I was clear to you from the first day we met. I told you that am not interested in you, so don’t blame me if I fail to reciprocate your feelings” she yelled back at him.
“Really? Then let’s see how far you are willing to resist me” he said as he pulled her into his arms trying to force a kiss on her.
“Let go of me! I don’t want you to kiss me! Let me go” Fiona blurt out while struggling in his arms.
He ended up kissing her like he wanted but when he felt the tears on her face, he came back to his senses.
“Am sorry. I didn’t mean…am deeply sorry ” Ken apologise and immediately Fiona pulled away from him.
She was about leaving the tent when she heard him say.
“I really like you Fiona, am crazy about you. Have never felt this way for someone and that’s why I almost lost control. I promise never to do it again but I can’t promise that I will leave you alone, you will end up returning my feelings that I can promise you” Ken stated.
Feeling scared by his determination to make her his, Fiona quickly left the room.
“All I have to do now is to know who her boyfriend is and get him out of my way” Ken muttered to himself.

Having woken up early to prepare breakfast for the sleeping Connor, Tessa was returning to their room with a tray in hand when she heard his voice coming from the study.
“Is he awake already?” She said as she made her way to the study.
She was about announcing her presence when she heard granny Susie ask.
“So you don’t intend to take Tessa to the party tonight, Why?”
“I don’t want people finding out about her” Connor replied.
“But she’s your wife ”
“And that’s the main reason why Tessa shouldn’t go with me. She’s not used to the sort of things we do and she won’t be used to the party. I will only feel embarrassed ” Connor said and that broke Tessa’s heart.
“You will be embarrassed by Tessa going with you? Do you know that what you are saying doesn’t make sense”
“It does to me. This party is important for me and the company and I won’t let my novice wife ruin it. If she’s going to accompany me to such parties in the future then she needs to be groomed for it and That’s something you need to help me with ” Connor replied.
“If Tessa heard you saying this, she will be so mad” Granny Susie stated.
“Am not telling a lie. Tessa isn’t fit enough to be my partner for tonight”
“And who is fit enough to be?”
“I asked Clarissa and she agreed to go with me and lest I forget I need to give her a call ” Connor said as he pick up his phone.
Quickly Tessa went back to the kitchen to set down the tray.
Never in her wildest dream would she have thought that Connor would think of her in that manner.
What if she’s poor and didn’t get to attend such parties does that make her an embarrassment…she thought.
She was all dressed for work when he return to the room.
“Give me a chance to take a shower and I will take you to work” he offered.
“I don’t need you to, I can get there myself” she replied and made to walk past him but he stood in her path.
“Is something wrong?”
“What do you think is wrong?” She threw back his question at him.
“If something is bothering you then I suggest you…”
“Am late for work and I have nothing to say to you!” She said interrupting him and when she tried to walk past him, he took hold of her hand.
“I hired a body guard for you, he will be…”
“I don’t need a bodyguard” she snap.
“You need one Tessa. I won’t let the same thing repeat itself, do you know how worried I was?” He asked , his expression showing one of concern.
“Fine then, do wh@Ε₯Δver you want” she replied and pulled her hand out of his before leaving the room.
“Did I do something wrong?” He asked scratching the back of his head.

^^ Later That Day ^^
Having ignored Connor’s call for the fifth time that day, Tessa went to the cafeteria.
She let out a sigh as she pick her food, thinking about the things Connor said about her.
She was deep in thoughts that she failed to notice a man walking up to her table.
“Hello, Tessa” Edward greeted earning a smile from her.
“Good to see you again” she said as she gave him a peck on the cheek before settling down in her chair.
“Well am here to see a friend and he asked me to come get him something to eat which got me noticing you, though you look a bit sad. Is Connor being a jackass?” Edward asked.
“More than that” Tessa replied.
“Care to tell me more on it or am I prying?” Edward asked which got her shaking her head.
“Since you are a friend of Connor, It won’t be a big deal telling you right?” Tessa said trying to assure herself.
“So you are saying that Connor thinks you an embarrassment?” Edward asked some time later and she slowly shook her head.
“I might not have been to parties which he’s used to but that doesn’t mean that am Stupid” she said trying to hold back her tears.
“What do you intend to do about it?” Edward asked.
“Just stay back home like he wants me to” Tessa replied and slowly Edward shook his head.
“That husband of yours shouldn’t get what he wants. You’ve got to show him that you are not the embarrassment he thinks you to be”
“How do I do that?” Tessa asked.
Later in the evening a white limo stopped in front of a large gate where a soft music was emanating from.
“Shall we?” Edward asked as he put out his hand to Tessa who was still in the car.
“I don’t think this is right” she said starring at a very pretty version of herself.
“There’s no time for doubts, Tessa” Edward said as he pulled her out of the car.
“Tonight you’ve got to shine and make that husband of yours regret what he said about you” Edward added, captivated by her look.
“If I was Connor, I certainly wouldn’t let you out of my sight” he said starring at her eye catching figure.
“So are you up for this?” Edward asked and slowly she nodded.
“Let’s do this”
Taking hold of her hand they both went into the building.
