“I’m finished.”
______

Mrs. Chester was biting her fingernail while staring out of the window.

She was consumed with fear and bewilderment.

How is this even possible?

A poor girl turns out to be a rich girl, are they in a f-__-king movie or something?

“This is bad.” She mumbled, blinking severally.

The sound of the door opening and closing grabbed her attention. She quickly turned around and saw her daughter approaching her.

“Mom, you requested my presence. What’s wrong?” She asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

Mrs. Chester pulled out her fingernails from her mouth and stepped close to Beverly.

“Dear, I have some important questions for you. And you must answer them truthfully.”

Beverly pinched her brows together, giving her mother a weird and confused look.

“Okay? What is it?”

Mrs. Chester gulped nothing, wiping off the beads of sweat that had formed on her forehead. If fear was a person, it would have been her.

“About uhm… Esmeralda…”

Beverly groaned, rolling her eyes in annoyance.

“What about that Ɓîtçh? Wait, is she the reason why you look so frightened and act this way? Mom, come on, I already told you what to do to solve the problem. Just pay off her poor parents and they will keep their mouths shut. I was busy in class when you called me out here.”

“Can you shut up and listen to me, young lady?” Mrs. Chester snapped.

“Fine. Keep talking.” Beverly sighed, going to sit down on the couch positioned at the center of the large office, and crossed her legs.

“Why did you have the feeling that Esmeralda was from a wealthy family? Did she say or do anything to make you feel that way?” The woman asked.

“Well,” She shrugged. “She was saying some weird things about her status being stronger than mine. I know she was just saying all those things to scare me. She even said something about hiding her true identity. Pfft, what a cheap liar.” She scoffed.

“Oh, God.” Mrs. Chester breathed out, sauntering to her desk with quivering feet.

Beverly eyed her mother closely and carefully, raising a questioning brow.

“Mom, what is it?” She asked after a moment of silence. “Is there something I should know?”

“Yes, there is.” She mumbled. “We are finished, Beverly. We are doomed. My career is over!”

“Huh?” Beverly rose to her feet. “What do you mean? What are you saying? Have her parents pressed charges against us? Pay them off if that’s the case.”

“Pay them off?” Mrs. Chester repeated, glaring at her child. “Pay them off, you say. I said we are finished! Do you know what that means? Beverly, you and your cohorts have messed with the wrong person.”

“I’m lost here. Can you be specific with your words?”

The woman inhaled deeply and then released a shaky breath, leaning back to the desk.

“Esmeralda isn’t who we think she is. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Brown.” She revealed.

Beverly blinked twice, moving closer to her mother.

“Wha… what are you talking about? How is that even possible? She is a poor girl. Everyone knows that fact. Wasn’t she given a scholarship to come to this school? How can the daughter of the great Brown family be granted a scholarship? Do you know what you are saying, Mom? Mr. Alfie Brown and Mrs. Joan Brown are stinkingly rich! They are the main source of the greater achievement of Snowy high school. You said it yourself, without them, Snowy High won’t be in the position that it is worldwide.” She blabbed.

“Yeah. Now that I think about it, I offered one of Mr. & Mrs. Brown’s children a scholarship because of the tremendous work and support their parents have shown us. Esmeralda was the one who took the scholarship. Oh, God. I am finished. I will lose everything I’ve worked my @zz for.” She started crying.

“Why… Why did she hide her identity? Why did she pretend to be from a poor family? Why did she make me bully her? WHY!?” Beverly screamed.

“Should that be your main focus? Our school is going to go down the drain, can’t you see it? Why do you keep bullying students, huh?”

“Are you blaming me now?”

“Who else am I going to blame? Myself? You pushed her off the building! You are going to be the death of me. Leave my office.”

“Mom_”

Mrs. Chester cut her off.

“Not a word from you. Just leave my office. I have to look for a way to sort out things with Mr. & Mrs. Brown. I have to clean up the mess that you’ve made! Because trust me, if they decide to come for us… It is over for us. Because we are nothing compared to them. Indeed, Esmeralda’s status is way stronger than yours.” With that said, she turned her back to her daughter, indicating the end of their discussion.

Beverly hesitated before leaving the office.

< HOSPITAL 🌹 INTENSIVE CARE UNIT >

Carmen and Camden stood by the opposite side of the room, separated by a thick glass.

Esmeralda was still conscious in the hospital bed. She has all kinds of wires connected to her body however, the heart monitor was reading accurately.

The twins have refused to go to school because they want to be there for their baby sister.

Joan hasn’t returned from confronting the principal of Snowy High School.

There was silence between them as they kept on staring at Esmeralda as if she was the only thing or person that mattered to them. Actually, at this point, she was the only thing/person that mattered more to them.

“Carmen, Camden,” A masculine voice called out from behind, grabbing their attention.

They turned around and were very surprised to see their father.

“Dad!” Carmen excitedly called out and rushed into her father’s arms.

“Oh, my sweet princess.” He muttered under his breath, planting soft kisses on her forehead and her head.

“You are finally home. I miss you so much.” She cried out.

“I miss you more. Are… Are you crying?” He pulled away to look at her face, indeed, she was crying.

“Esmeralda is in a coma. I’m scared of something bad happening to her. I don’t want to lose my baby sis.”

“Hey,” Alfie embraced his child once again, stroking her hair gently. “Nothing is going to happen to your sister, alright? She will be fine, I promise you that.” He moved his gaze to Camden. “Son,”

Carmen pulled aside, giving her brother a chance to welcome their father.

He quickly walked into his father’s arms.

“How are you?” Alfie asked, patting Camden’s back softly.

“I’m not fine, Dad. I’m worried sick of Esmeralda.” He answered truthfully.

“Yeah. I’m worried about her as well.” The man stated and went to stand by the glass, staring at his last baby’s unconscious form. “I had to leave everything aside and rush down here when I heard what happened.”

“Was it my mother who told you about it?” Carmen asked.

“Yes, she was the one. She was crying uncontrollably as she explained everything to me in detail. But I’m confused, How did she fall off the building?”

“I don’t know but the narrative going on in the school is that she jumped off the building herself that is, she committed suicide.” Camden answered.

“What? Why would Esme commit suicide? That doesn’t make any sense.” Alfie frowned.

“I’m sure that’s a lie. Actually, dad,” Carmen began. “I guess there is something you should…”

Camden placed his hand on his sister’s shoulder, stopping her mid-sentence.

Alfie gave them the ‘What is going on?’ look.

“Why did you stop her from talking, Camden? What is it that I need to know about?”

“Honey?” Joan’s voice cut in, interrupting the moment.

Alfie turned around to face his heartthrob, his wonderful and dear wife.

“My love,” He spread out his arms and without hesitation she hurried towards him, embracing him, while sobbing out loud.

“Come with me, Car.” Camden whispered to his sister’s ears and walked away. Carmen let out a deep sigh and went after him.

< GARDEN >

“Why did you bring me out here?” Carmen queried, glaring at him.

“What were you going to say to father?”

“Is that even a question? Of course, I was going to tell him the truth.”

“Are you for real right now? Tell him what truth exactly?” He asked.

“You and I both know that Esme didn’t jump off the building with the aim of committing suicide. She had never do that. Look,” She brought out her phone and showed her last message to Esmeralda. “We planned on meeting to talk things out. So tell me, why would she ki|| herself then, huh?”

“So do you think that she was murdered?” Camden questioned.

“Yes, I do. And I think I know who they are.” She answered.

“Let me guess, Beverly, Brent, and co, isn’t that right?”

“Oh, look at you, you aren’t so dumb after all.” She sarcastically said.

“Is there any proof that they did this?”

“Do we need proof? Everyone in the junior section knows that Beverly and her stupid cohorts always bully Esmeralda. It is no news to anybody.”

“I don’t think Esme will want us to tell Mom and Dad anything.” Camden reasoned.

“Are you for real? So what? You expect me to keep quiet about this? Never. Beverly had crossed the line and I’m going to make her pay so dearly for it.” She huffed.

“Esmeralda is the one who has every right to tell Mom and Dad everything. Not you nor I.”

“Can’t you see that Esme is fighting for her life as we speak? How is she going to tell them everything in that kind of a state? What are you even saying?”

“Exactly why we shouldn’t say anything to our parents. Let Esme do it herself.”

“How?”

“By waking up from that coma and exposing the people that did that to her. If we tell our parents the truth…” He hesitated. “There will be no reason for her to fight for her life anymore.”

Fresh tears streamed down Carmen’s face and surprisingly, she hugged her brother.

“I’m so scared. Will Esme be alright?”

“Esmeralda is a strong girl, Carmen. I can bet with my life that she will make it out of this alive. She must.”

Dahlia sat beside her daughter’s unconscious form, staring directly at her face.

King Graham walked in.

“My Queen, I heard you haven’t eaten for the past two days, why?”

“My daughter hasn’t eaten either.” That was the woman’s reply, not taking her eyes off Lilith.

“I know how you fe_”

She cut him off.

“No, you don’t. You don’t know how I feel at all.” She sniffled, wiping off the black-stained tears from her face. “This has happened before, remember? And we both know how it ended. I can’t risk the life of my child again. I can’t.”

Graham wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind.

“Nothing will happen to Lilith, I assure you that, okay?”

Dahlia moved her gaze to look at him.

“Don’t make promises you can’t fulfill, Graham. I might hold you responsible for wh@ťěver happens next.” She warned.

“Listen, I will do everything possible to make sure that our daughter gets well soon.”

Dahlia nodded her head and looked back at her child, reaching out to hold her pale hands.

“I will make sure she doesn’t uncover the truth and unveil the secret we have been keeping from her. And I swear I will ki|| any thr_@t in my way that tries to go against my wish.” She glanced over at Graham again. “And that includes your wives.”

“I have been trying his number but,” Harley shook her head sadly, dropping her phone on the table. “he’s not picking up.”

“How long have you known that he has another sister?” Oscar asked.

Harley slightly shrugged her shoulders, lowering her gaze.

“How long?” He pestered.

“Calm down, Oscar.” Ricco sighed.

Oscar whipped his head in his direction and gave him a hard glare.

“Were you aware as well? Am I the only one who doesn’t know about it?”

“What? No. They left me in the dark as much as they did to you. Carmen was the only sister I was aware of.”

“Harley, why aren’t you saying anything?” Oscar asked, darting his gaze back to her.

“I feel… so bad.” She murmured. “And I’m terrified of Camden losing his baby sister.”

Ricco ruffled his hair, letting out a deep sigh while Oscar grabbed a drink from the table and took a sip from the straw.

“What do you think happened? Did she really jump off the building?” Ricco asked.

“Of course not!” Harley shook her head. “Esmeralda can be shy, introverted, quiet, and a wallflower. But she’s never one to commit suicide simply because she was bullied in school. I mean, if she was tired of getting bullied, she could have just told everyone the whole truth about her true identity instead of ki||ing herself.”

“Wait a minute, she was bullied?” Oscar repeated.

“Yeah.” Harley nodded her head.

“And Camden kept quiet about it?” He frowned.

“He was only trying to fulfill her wishes. She doesn’t want him to get involved in her business.”

“Why did she pretend to be poor?” Ricco asked.

“Well, only Esmeralda can answer that question.”

Harriet and Maeve joined them in the cafeteria.

“Have you heard from Camden? We’ve been trying Carmen’s number but she’s not answering any of our calls.” Maeve informed.

“Camden isn’t answering us either.” Ricco breathed out.

“I think we should go to the hospital during the closing hours, What do you think?” Harriet suggested.

“That’s a very good idea.” They all agreed.

“So, we will all meet at the parking lot, right?” She asked.

Harley, Ricco, and Oscar nodded their heads at the same time.

“Alright then. Come on, Maeve, let’s go.”

The girls walked away afterward.

“I just hope everything is fine over there and Esmeralda is alright.” Harley whispered.

Hannah was reading a book when she felt the presence of someone. Without looking she said,

“Welcome home, honey.”

“Thank you, my lovely wife.” Mr. Hill said, stepping closer to her and planting a soft kiss on her red lipstick lips.

“You are kinda late, you know that, right?” She closed the book she was reading and dropped it aside, giving him her full attention.

“Mm-hmm. I’m sorry.” He apologized, kissing her again. “Is he back?”

“Yeah. He should be in his room,” She smiled, snapping her fingers.

A few seconds later, Rose strolled into the room, folding her hands behind her.

“Ma’am,” She bowed her head, respectfully. “Sir, you are welcome back home.”

Mr. Hill said nothing to the old maid as he sat down beside his wife and started peppering kisses on her neck.

“Rose, go and inform my son about his father’s arrival. Hurry up.” She ordered, shutting her eyes close and Mõ@ɲing softly.

“Yes, madam.” Rose bowed her head and walked away.

“Why do you keep hiring humans to work for us? Why not immortal or even vampires?” He asked, shifting her pants aside and inserting his finger into her honeypot.

“Oh, f-__-k.” She mewled, biting her lower lip. “Do you know how much I’ve missed your fingers, honey? I honestly can’t live long without you.”

Mr. Hill chuckled darkly, giving her open kisses on her neck and earlobe.

“Me either. You are f-__-king glued to my head, baby. But hey, you haven’t answered my question.”

She smirked.

“Humans are weak and stupid. They are easy to control and be manipulated. Moreover,” She inhaled and exhaled sharply. “They are afraid of us.”

“Mm-hmm. You always have your reasons for doing certain things, my love. You are too smart and intelligent. It is one attribute I love about you.”

He started f-__-king her roughly with his fingers, earning louder Mõ@ɲs from her until they were rudely interrupted by someone.

“Why am I not surprised to see this scene?” King raised a questioning brow, shoving his hands inside his pocket and staring at his parents. As much as I love watching p*rn or having s*x. It’s disgusting to see my parents f-__-k on the couch.”

“Guys, what are you doing here?” Camden asked, surprised.

They were all in the waiting lounge.

“We are really pissed at you, man.” Oscar groaned.

“I told them the truth. Sorry, but I think they deserve to know about your hidden sister.” Harley let out.

“I understand.” Camden sighed. “Guys, I’m sorry for not telling you about Esmeralda.”

“You don’t trust us enough, is that it?” Ricco questioned.

“What? I promise that’s not the case. Esmeralda doesn’t want me to reveal her identity to anybody and she made me promise her not to tell any of my friends. I’m sorry. Harley only knows about her because she has been with us longer than you both have. Harley is like a family friend.” He explained.

Ricco and Oscar nodded their heads in understanding.

Carmen was discussing with her best friends as well, apologizing for not telling them about Esme but turns out that they understand her reasons as well and don’t blame her for not telling them.

“We are also sorry for speaking so low about your sister. How did you not hit us or cut ties with us?” Maeve asked.

“Frankly, I feel so terrible.” Harriet added.

“It’s okay, girls. I was upset but you both didn’t know that she was related to me.”

“Now I see why you h@ťě Beverly.” Harriet said.

“Anyway, how is she?” Oscar asked.

“Well…”

There was nobody in the room aside from Esme who was still lying unconsciously on the bed.

The heart monitor started reading fast and was beeping loudly. Slowly, it stopped reading.

A few more minutes and Esme’s eyes opened.

Her eyes were red and her body looked paler and colder. She sniffed the air while releasing deep breaths.

“f-__-king hell,” She growled through clenched teeth.

Lilith pinched her brows together.

“Where am I?”

The old witch was going through the book of the future, a deep frown plastered to her face.

Suddenly, the pages turned by itself and stopped at a blank page.

“What…” Her voice trailed off when a writing appeared.

The witch gasped, her eyes wide open and the book fell off her palms.

“Oh, no. It is happening again.”
