She scrolled through their messages and the call logs, the sight of all the good night love messages he sent her even the ones from last night, provoked her more.
” you should respect my privacy” David said curtly. He collected his phone from her.
The tears in dorathy’s eyes poured down her cheeks,
” So you are cheating on me, it’s barely 1 year since we got married and you are already cheating”
” I am not cheating on you!!” He refuted her loudly.
” The number there belongs to my ex, I totally forgot to change how I saved it after we broke up. I promise you am not have an affair with her”. He spoke calmly.
” Then why is she texting you?, David!” She spoke angrily.
” I don’t know, that’s what i was going to find out”
“You have been talking with her all this while and still claim to be unaware of what she wants”
” Okay, i will tell you, she wants me to give her brother whom just finished service, a job”
” How stupid do you think i am, I have gone through your chats with her you dummy”
He stood there in dead silence without uttering a word, with sweat dripping down his face, he opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. he knew his secrets has been revealed, he bows his head in shame.
Dorathy walked out of the living room crying, stomping her feet hard as she went upstairs.
David sat back on the chair, rubbing his head, thinking of what just happened before going up.
He turned the door knob and pushed the door but it would not budge. Dorathy had locked the door from the inside to avoid him following her into the room.
” Dorathy please open the door, please” he banged on the door but she didn’t reply.
” Please hear me out, I am sorry” he added
While David kept pleading from outside, dorathy drifted to a quiet place in her head, where she had a flashback to a certain scenario that happened while they were dating.
It was the first time she caught David cheating, she remembered how he begged and promised never to cheat on her again.
The pleading stopped and dorathy woke up from her reverie.
She felt the need to talk to someone, Lisa just returned from her trip abroad few days ago. She called her friend Lisa on the phone.
” Hello Lisa are you free ?” She asked.
” Yes, am not so busy.” Lisa replied
” Can we meet up and chat a bit”
” No problem, I’m at home now”
The other thing on dorathy’s mind was how to get pass David with the drama he is acting out there.
She quickly picked her handbag, grabbed her car keys, she slightly opened the door and came out without him noticing.
She walked down the stairs slowly tip toeing, he saw dorathy coming down the stairs, he swiftly approached her.
He knelt down infront of her begging for her forgiveness, he forced tears out of his eyes as he said;
“I am sorry, i promise it won’t happen again, i swear on my li..”
” you swear on your life it won’t happen again, I know the drill David, it is always the same thing everytime. Empty promises” she interrupted him.
” This time I really mean it, i will go for deliverance this time. I feel like something makes me do this, it’s like am not my self when am doing these things, only after i get caught i realize myself”. David said as he clinched to her legs.
” Please don’t leave me, you are my only true love, I promise to change” he added.
” David let go of my leg, I need to be alone and clear my head to see if this marriage can work out”
She pulled her leg forcefully from his hold.
She got into her car and drove off, As she drove on the smooth roads, the thoughts of how they first met came to her mind.
Dorathy met David through Lisa her friend.
It’s was three years ago when she went to visit Lisa on that faithful day. At the time Lisa’s shop had not spawned into a big fashion designing school.
Dorathy patronized Lisa alot, as Lisa would say, dorathy was her best customer.
Dora and Lisa’s relationship grew stronger, Dora would often visit Lisa at her shop and they would talk alot. The day she met David was like every other day, she would go to visit Lisa at her shop.
David came to enroll some people in her fashion designing school, when dorathy’s beauty caught his eyes.
He asked for her number that same day, at first dorathy was reluctant to give her number but after a while she gave him.
She got to the bumpy parts of the road and she stopped thinking to focus on the road
She called Lisa to inform her of her arrival, the gates opened automatically for her. Lisa lived in a duplex all by herself, she owned a fashion designing school in the heart of the state, one of the biggest in the state.
Lisa on opening the door was expecting dorathy to be happy cause they have not spoke in a while but was shocked to see her eyes red like they were filled with blood.
The smile on Lisa’s face slowly faded away.
” What happened?, Why are you crying?” She ushered dorathy into her house.
” It’s David, he did it again” Dorathy spoke with a cracked voice.
Lisa understood what was happening, Dorathy had gone through this type of situation while she was dating David.
” He cheated on you again!” She said as she sat down on the couch.
” I thought he would stop when we got married. He cheated on me while we were dating and i forgave him, but infidelity is one thing i can’t tolerate” dorathy said.
” Once a cheat always a cheat” Lisa said before gulping down a glass of water.
” So what do you plan on doing?” She continued.
” I don’t know, i just want to clear my head before i would decide”
At home…
David was becoming worried, dorathy wasn’t taking his calls. He called his brother–steve to come over.
Steve arrived at his house
” What happened?”
” It’s dorathy she found out i am cheating on her”.
” That’s why you are bothered?”
” Yes, she could file for a divorce. We have come really far i can’t let anything spoil now” David said.
” There’s nothing a little persuasion can not do, just ask for her forgiveness, she will forgive. You are almost at the end, nothing can go wrong”. Steve smirked.
