He fell to the ground and went rigid.
Alex hit his fist very hard on the wall with tears dropping down his cheek profusely.
” No single soul in school anymore and now, Nike?” He sobbed.
“He died so we could continue the race.. we mustn’t relent cos I’m sure we’re all still gonna do so when the time comes” Bobby said and looked at Chloe.
“Everyone is trusting in you” He tapped her shoulder gently before taking the lead this time.
” You saved my life Nike and I’m promising you I won’t die untill I end this game” Chloe sniffed.
Alex held her hands and they left the place together.
They kept walking through the hallway but they saw no single soul on their way.
Were there really no souls left? Did all the students really died? Were they the only survivors?
” This is strange..”Alex said after they had walked for five minutes.
” No possessed being spotted right?” Bobby asked and Alex nodded.
“They must be waiting for us at the library” Chloe smirked.
“Should we continue? At the expense of our lives, let’s stop this f-__-king game” She said and the guys nodded.
“Before that, players aren’t supposed to h@ťě each other.. I think that’s the only two rules I can remember” She explained.
“What’s the other one?” Bobby asked and She stared at Alex.
“Don’t worry about it..” She said and started leaving. They didn’t stop untill they got in front of the library.
They stared at each other, taking deep breaths.
” Let’s do this”Bobby said and they all entered the library. Chloe and Alex’s eyes widened upon seeing how scattered the books in the library were.
How were they gonna find the book in the middle of this books??
” Is this how disorganized your Library is?” Bobby asked.
“Not sure… I think they did it on purpose..” Alex said.
“Let’s not waste more time and look for the book” Chloe said and with that, they began scattering other books looking for the Devil’s book when they heard creepy laughters and voices coming from each angle of the library.
” No one is leaving here alive even if you find the source” The voices echoed.
They saw no one, just voices. They kept looking around in confusion until they heard another voice.
“ WHAT WORD IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE DOES THE FOLLOWING: THE FIRST TWO LETTERS SIGNIFIES A MALE, THE FIRST THREE LETTERS SIGNIFIES A FEMALE, THE FIRST FOUR LETTERS SIGNIFIES A GREAT, WHILE THE ENTIRE WORD SIGNIFIES A GREAT WOMAN.
” WHAT IS THE WORD?”
Their eyes’ dilated when the say the timing on the wall
5 SECONDS!.
” Look for the book Chloe” Bobby said loudly but his head parted ways with his body immediately he said that.
Chloe screamed.
” HEROINE” She said but that wasn’t all.. the questions kept coming.
” I HAVE TWO LEGS, BUT THEY ONLY TOUCH THE GROUND WHILE I’M AT REST… WHAT AM I? ”
“WHEELBARROW ” Alex replied.
“This won’t stop” He uttered.
” Let’s keep answering while looking for the book” Chloe said and immediately another question came in.
” f-__-k this game” She cursed.
“ I AM THE REASON YOU RUN. I AM THE REASON YOU SCREAM. I AM THE CAUSE OF YOUR PAIN. I AM A CAGE FROM WHICH YOU WILL NEVER BE FREE. What am I?”
” BODY” Chloe replied, walking to where her and Alex saw the book while Alex followed behind.
“ BORN IN AN INSTANT, I TELL ALL STORIES. I CAN BE LOST, BUT I NEVER DIE… WHAT AM I?”
“ MEMORIES ” Alex replied.
As their hands and eyes do the search, their ears were paying attention to the invisible beings.
Chloe’s eyes widened when she sighted the book.
” Found it..” She said and faced Alex but was shocked to see almost twelve possessed beings surrounding them.
” Oh no!”She muttered.
” Don’t worry about me, just look for how to stop the game and I’ll take care of their riddles” He smiled and she sniffed.
“We’ve come this far together, so please, let’s survive together okay?” She said and he smiled before facing the Demons Infront of them.
Chloe immediately opened the book and a sudden vortex of wind, blew mightily across the room, yet she didn’t let go of the book. Alex held onto one of the shelves so he wouldn’t follow the wind.
After Three minutes, the wind stopped. Alex opened his eyes but was surprised to see no one around. Just him and Chloe.
” I think they’re gone for now” Chloe flipped through the first page and she felt a stab in her belly.
She winced as she coughed out blood yet she didn’t let go of the book. She opened the second page and this time, she got stabbed on her back.
Alex made to go to her but she stopped him.
” No! Don’t come closer!”
” Arghh!!” She screamed in pain but she still didn’t give up.
Every page came with a stab.. she opened the third one and got stabbed on her chest, almost close to her heart.
She vomited more blood..
” Chloe..” Alex shook his head as tears left his eyes.
” I promised them I was gonna destroy the book at the expense of my life so it’s understandable” She muttered, blood leaving the stabbed area profusely.
It went on until the 10th page. When Alex couldn’t take it anymore, he snatched the book from her and continued from where she stopped.
” To end the game, each page comes with a torture” Alex read out, after opening the 14th page.
They couldn’t see those stabbing them.
It was left just two more pages to go when Chloe snatched the book away from him so as to take the remaining torture.
She turned the second to the last page and two more stab met her stomach. This time, her intestines was visible.
” We need a match…. fire, we need to burn the book” She said weakly, going down slowly still not letting go of the book.
Alex’s breath hitched when he saw her lying lifelessly like a corpse.
” Where do they keep the matches here?” He wondered and began walking around the library while answering riddles from unseen beings.
“ WHAT’S THE PROBLEM WITH TWIN WITCHES? ”
” You can’t tell which witch is which”
” HOW DO YOU CALL A WITCH AT THE BEACH?”
” Sand-Witch ”
He kept giving answers to riddles, not minding his bloody body untill he came across a strange matches on the ground. Immediately he picked it up, a knife got stuck in his neck and he coughed out blood.
” I can’t dié yet, I must give this to Chloe” He muttered and started staggering towards Chloe whose eyes were slightly opened.
Immediately he got to her, he fell to the ground, bleeding profusely.
” Use…use the…” He couldn’t complete his statement when he went silent.
” No Alex!” Chloe cried as blood left her mouth..
” Wait for me Alex, cos I’m sure I’m not surviving this either” She said.
She stretched her hands with difficulty till she took the matches from Alex’s stiff body.
” Do well and ki|| me as well when I’m done with this” She muttered.
She light up a match and brought it towards the book.
The book started burning and creepy cries echoed in the library.
The book began dragging the possessed demons into it one by one, each of them passing by Chloe, and using their blades on her body .
She cried as she laid beside Alex. The book burnt to ashes and the creepy cries stopped.
” We did it..” She muttered as blood kept leaving her mouth.
” I did it Alex” She managed to say as her heart stopped beating and her eyes closed.
She died too.

Chloe raised her head from her desk and looked around the class.
Everyone in their class had their heads on their desks like they were asleep.
She looked at the door and saw Mitchell lying down on the floor.
” What’s happening? The library!” She stood and made to take a step and that was when an eerie breeze blew around the class.
She hugged herself as she felt goosebumps on her body, then a loud scream erupted from the students, each of them raising their heads from their desk and panting heavily.
It seems they just had a nightmare.
” What happened?” She wondered and looked at the door again.
She saw Mitchell dusting her body as she stood up from the ground. She rushed to her ( Mitchell ) immediately and engulfed her into a bone crushing hug.
” Are you okay? I thought I lost you” She muttered.
“It felt real Chloe, I thought I died” Mitchell cried too and Chloe disengaged from the hug.
“What do you mean?” She asked.
” I don’t know, I just found my self in school and the kids were ki||ing each other ” Mitchell replied and Chloe blinked rapidly.
Someone was behind Mitchell so she raised her head to see who it was.
” Oh my God, Bobby!!” She called, surprised.
“It seems it’s not a dream, it must be a Trance.. Everyone got into a Trance” Bobby said and Chloe looked around the class to get a glimpse of her friends.
” Havana, Elodie!!” She called, rushing to them.
They hugged and cried on each other’s shoulder.
They broke they hug and Kurr immediately went to Havana and without thinking twice, he hugged her to himself, earning a buzz from the rest of their friends as they laughed.
Thierry and Elodie exchanged glances for a while and she looked away, her face turning red.
” She’s blushing” Nike laughed and she hit him playfully.
” Stop it!” She left the place.
” Alright! enough of all this, let’s get to the library” Chloe said but her friends were smiling at each other, not minding her.
” Fine.. I’ll go alone then” She rolled her eyes and turned around to see Franca in front of her.
” Thanks for caring” She muttered and turned to leave but Chloe stopped her.
She walked over to Franca and hugged her tight.
” Don’t act stupidly next time.. I might ki|| you myself” Chloe scolded while Franca sniffed tearfully.
” Can we be friends??” She asked, still in the hug and Chloe nodded. They both disengaged from the hug and Chloe smiled at her.
” I’ll be at the library” Chloe said and walked over to Bobby who was about leaving the class with his teammates.
” Dumbàss cops” she smiled and Alex scoffed.
“Why in the world would she smile with that cop?” He scoffed again, standing on his feet.
“I’ll be back guys..” He said to his friends and started following Chloe and Bobby secretly.
” So what brought you to school??”Chloe asked.
“My kid sister schools here, I was called because she refused talking to anyone so I came and my friends decided to come with me” Bobby replied.
“Oh! I wonder what could make everyone see that Trance or should I say nightmare?” Chloe said while Bobby laughed.
“Well, I’ll be on my way now Chloe..” He waved as he left with his friends.. Chloe looked around and was disappointed when she saw none of her friends behind her.
She went her way untill she got to the library. She was looking for anything strange when Alex appeared.
He sighted the book on the floor and pointed at it.
” That book..” He said, picking it from the ground and their eyes widened.
” A GAME WITH THE DEVIL” They both read but this time, they didn’t keep the book on the shelf.
The got a pocket lighter from the librarian and left for a restricted class.
” I’m sure what we saw was what was gonna happen.. let’s stop this before it comes to pass” Alex said and Chloe nodded.
They lit the lighter and brought it close to the book but they were scared to burn it.
What if they get stabbed?
” Let’s do this” Alex held the book firmly while Chloe lit the lighter again, bringing it to the book and it caught fire.
Loud creepy cries left the book and they held their ears untill the sound died down.
” Wow.. It means everything in the trance was gonna happen for real?” She asked but he kissed her instead.
“I love you Chloe” He said and she smiled slightly.
” Well… I think it’s mutual” she muttered.
“You must not smile in front of that Bobby anymore okay?” He said.
“Wait, are you jealous right now?” She chuckle and he resumed kissing her.

” That was one terrible nightmare” The students kept talking about it while some had goosebumps at the thought.
Franca smiled widely as she sat this time with Chloe’s friends alongside hers; Nana, Quiin and Pinky.
They were all talking and laughing.

Chloe pulled away from the kiss.
” What??” Alex asked.
” I don’t want any shape shifter taking our faces” She said and Alex chuckled.
“Let’s meet the others” He held her hands as they both left the place, walking down the hallway which led to their classes
