CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR
Your Majesty! A guard called out to them as they were walking to Wyatt’s castle.
They both halted and waited for him to get to them.
The guard ran to them and bowed and King Wright nodded.
The meeting, Your Majesty… the elders are here to discuss the wedding, he said and King Wright who almost forgot nodded.
What wedding?
Who’s getting married? Zelda asked and her mate smiled.
We are getting married in two days, he announced.
What?! She half yelled.
What?
You don’t want to get married? he asked.
Its…. its just too soon, she stated the obvious.
Really? he asked nonchalantly.
Wright, she whined like a child..
Someone told me its not good to spend the night with someone you aren’t married to, he said nodding at the guard who turned and left them.
And? she asked.
If I have to spend the night with you, I have to marry you first, isn’t it?
But that can wait…
Can it really wait? Do you really don’t want to be with me? he asked sounding a bit hurt.
Its not like that, just that marriages takes months to plan, its not something that can be done in few days, she said thinking of how long it takes in the human world to make preparations for a wedding.
Is it about the planning? Or you just aren’t eager to be with me as much as I am? he asked.
Ofcourse, i want to be with you, its just that we still need to get to know each other, go on dates, hang out, talk about ourselves and do a lot of things together, you know… have a relationship… you would be my boyfriend first then you propose to me, properly… you know, like its done, she blabbered and her mate stared at her.
Boyfriend? was all he could pick out of everything she said.
Yes, like boyfriend and girlfriend, she said but stopped when she noticed he seemed confused.
Oh… she muttered with a chuckle, was she expecting such a backward man to know all about that?
Go ahead, I will just go to my room, she said flinging her both hands in the air.
Nodding, he turned and left to the meeting while Zelda joined but walked slowly behind him.
She smiled on her way, thinking about getting married to him.
She didn’t know the emergency wedding was going to excite her.
Or was she excited because he wanted her as much as she wanted him?
She kept smiling and chuckling with herself as she walked back to her quarters.
Getting to the passage, she smiled at all the guards and maids even before they greeted her.
The palace seemed busy.
Everyone seemed to be busy preparing for their wedding.
Edna, she called when she saw Edna walking down the passage in a hurry.
Edna halted and bowed, she looked uneasy.
What’s wrong? she asked when she got to her.
Nothing, My Queen, she said with a bow, her two hands folded below her stomach.
Zelda stared at her, her pinky kept twitching.
Her body, tensed and she seemed to be holding her breath.
Are you sure you are alright,Zelda asked touching her hand to calm her down but shook at what she saw.
Edna! She half yelled and Edna looked at her in shock.
My Queen, she responded with another bow.
She was scared Zelda must find her suspicious.
Oh my God, Edna, Zelda called gripping Ednas shoulders.
Her (Zelda) body shaking in fright.
Beads of sweat stood out on her forehead.
Edna… Edna… dont leave, she said in a confused tone.
My Queen?
Don’t leave…. stay here… i mean… come to my room with me, Zelda stuttered.
I.. I have to run an errand my Queen, Edna replied.
No! Don’t go, Zelda pleaded hugging her, scared to her bones.
I will be back My Queen,I promise, Edna assured her.
Will you? Zelda asked like a child who’s being clingy and she nodded.
Slowly, Zelda released her and Edna rushed out in a hurry.
Oh my God, Edna, Zelda kept muttering, she stood at that spot for a while before walking into her room absent mindedly.
It was already dark and her room was lit up with just one candle so it was pretty dark when she got in.
Queen was out of the palace, she was getting her wedding dress ready so she was left alone.
She entered her room and she got cold shivers immediately.
Lord please protect Edna, she prayed in her head as she walked towards her bed.
She was going to sit there and wait for Edna when she heard movements behind her.
Before she knew what was happening, Lancelot grabbed her neck from behind, his left hand covering her mouth.
She tried to struggle but her strength was nothing compared to that of a man who has been fighting all his life.
She tried to stretch her hand to grab anything to help her fight back.
She was too taken aback to think of using her powers.
Before her hands could get to anything, he used the wood to stab her right below her abdomen.
Her scream of pain came as muffled sound as his strong hand covered her mouth.
My Queen, she heard Edna’s voice behind her.
Edna rushed into the room and Lancelot quickly pulled the wood out of her stomach and she screamed in pain, blood gushing out.
Lancelot turned to run away, but Edna was too quick.
She grabbed a kitchen knife on her way to the room when she learnt from Peyton that someone was already carrying out the mission she refused.
She used the knife and stabbed him twice on his back but Lancelot was too strong.
He threw her across the room and ran off but Edna chased after him.
Edna!
Edna no! Zelda screamed trying to get up not minding the pain and her blood that was all over the floor.
Edna don’t listen.
She chased after him, out of the passage.
She caught up with him and they engaged in a fight.
She wasn’t going to let him go, she held on to him even as he hit her countless times.
The guards who heard Zelda’s scream ran to her room, while two guards helped her up as they tried to take her to get traetment, two other guards ran out to find Lancelot.
When they got to the back of the palace which was where Lancelot ran to, Edna was lying in the pool of her own blood, battered.
The guards met her amd tried to help her but she told them to find Lancelot.
Unfortunately for Lancelot, he was caught before he could get himself out of the huge palace, they captured him immediately but the carved wood was no where to be found.
Zelda who was being carried to the palace physician asked them to stop when she saw Edna lying on the floor.
Edna!
No! Edna! She cried trying to get away from them but they held her back.
You have to get treated, My Queen, the guard said.
Get away from me! she yelled pushing them away from her.
She didn’t put in any effort but they were sent flying across the room…Ignoring them, she ran to Edna,her blood dripping all over the floor as she kept walking and groaning in pain.
Edna?
Can you hear me? she called sitting on the floor beside Edna then placed Edna’s head on her thighs.
Edna?
Somebody help! she screamed at the guards who ran to her but Edna shook her head.
I’m… I’m.. sorry, My Queen, Edna struggled to speak as she was breathing unevenly.
She was stabbed severely, kicked and punched yet she held on to his legs when she couldn’t fight him anymore.
Her blood was all over the floor…
No, Edna, stay with me, Zelda pleaded crying..
I’m.. sorry… I…. too… i… took your… hair… strands… to… her, she spoke slowly.
Its nothing Edna… I know all you did…. please don’t leave me, please….. Edna!
Help her! Zelda yelled at the guards who rushed to them and tried carrying Edna.
Thank… you… My… Queen…. She forced a smile looking into Zelda blue eyes for the first time.
Thank me when you have recovered, let’s go get you treated.
I.. wish… i… i… met… you… a… bit… earlier… My… Queen… I’m…. tired….. now, she spoke uneasily reaching out her hands to touch Zelda’s cheeks with her bloody palm, she wiped her tears with a smile on her face…
I’m… sorry, she said finally then her hand dropped….

Edna!
You promised Edna!
Edna!
You promised to come to my room, you promised to stay with me!
Open your eyes!
Edna! She wailed uncontrollably.
My Queen, the guards called.
One of them took Edna from her as she stared into space…
The other guard helped her up.
Its my fault… I should have taken her away from the palace instead, she muttered then her head fell too as she drifted into unconsciousness.
The guard quickly carried her bridal style, rushing to the Physician.
