They both smiled and nervously faced the cold ground.
“What’s your name?” The nerd asked after a period of silence.
“What’s the essence of telling you that” Malia replied looking at him.
“Huh?” The surprised nerd asked
“We aren’t going to see each other again so there isn’t a need to exchange names” Malia explained
“But still, We could have a coincidence of seeing each other in future”
“No. I doubt that” Malia retorted sharply.
“What makes you think so?”
“No reason” Malia chuckled. The nerd laughed and stared at her.
“No reason?” He mimicked her indirectly asking a question. Malia nodded.
“I see. But in case if we meet again. How are we gonna remember each other?” The nerd asked
“I don’t care” Malia replied shaking her head with bulging eyes.
“Okay! But, I’m gonna remember you as a ballerina. And me? I’m gonna be remembered as your Nō 1 fan” The nerd smiled.
“Your choice” Malia said staring at her legs.
“I saw you hurt your feet earlier. Are you okay?” The nerd asked.
“Are you concerned about me? Pftttt! I’m fine. I get hurt all the time whenever I practice”
“Is it okay to get hurt all the time because you are a ballerina?”
“I’m used to it”
“No one is used to pain. We endure instead” The nerd said in his low tone. Malia looked into his eyes, slowly removed gaze and sighed.
“What do you think? It’s my dream. I’ve to endure…and get used to it” She whispered
“Your dream? But is it easy?” The nerd asked. Malia scoffed loudly.
“Nothing comes easy.Things you strive for are always hard. Slow and Steady wins the race.All Dreams slowly reach their goals.”
“Or some times… Dreams never reach their goals” The nerd said.
“Not for me. I’m at the peak of my goal now. I can clearly see it” Malia smiled
“I love your confidence” He said.
“Well. Thank you”
“You’re welcome”
“So…Do you have a dream?” Malia asked now looking at him.
“I guess” He replied
“What do you mean by that?”
“Well.. I recently signed into an agency, two days ago”
“Wow? Really?”
“Are you gonna be an artiste? Celebrity?” Malia asked amazed.
“Sort of. I’m into music. I’m gonna debut alongside other boys”
“Wow. A band?”
“Yeah”
“How many are you guys?”
“We’re three” He replied
“Well. I wish you all the luck you can get”
“Thank you. You’re also going to a big ballerina event right?”
“Yeah”
“I wish you luck too”
“Thank you” Malia replied.
“I can’t wait to see you on TV any ways. It’s gonna be fun” She added.
“Likewise you. It’s gonna be fun too” He gushed.
Malia smiled and it was interrupted by the embarrassing growling loud sound from her stomach. Malia quickly looked away and bit her lips hard ashamed.
“Aiish! Why now? It’s embarrassing” She thought shutting her eyes tightly as she bit her lips hard.
“I guess you are hungry” The nerd chipped in.
“I’m fine though”Malia said
“Nah. You aren’t..Should I get you something?”
“No. No. There’s no need!”
“What? Why?”
“I don’t wanna add any weight. I only eat breakfast and drink water. That’s all”
“Why? Aren’t you just causing yourself too much pains and sufferness?”
“It’s worth it. I’m talking about my goal here. A lifetime opportunity,…My Dream” She replied whispering.
“Don’t you have any other dreams? I h@ťě it when I see someone going through so much because of a dream?”
“It’s still worth it.As I said earlier, No dreams comes easy. Also, I have no dream apart from this”
“I see. but you are hungry right?”
“Yeah. I am”
“You wanna starve yourself?”
“I’m not starving myself. It’s more like I’m helping myself” Malia said
“Grrrrrrrwwhh!” Her flat stomach sounded again
“Owww!” Malia yelled in pain rounding her both arms on her stomach.
“Oh my Goodness! You know what, Hold on. I’m gonna get something light for you. It won’t take long I promise. Please, Do wait” He pleaded and left.
Few minutes later, He was back with a plate of food, a Coca-Cola drink and two hamburgers.
“What’s this? You call something this light?” Malia asked holding her stomach tightly.
“Please…Just help yourself with this”
“Don’t worry. Just eat it” Malia said trying to hide the pain.
“No. Please have it, I bought it already” He pleaded
“Just a spoon of rice will do” Malia quickly said.
“Huh? What about the drink and burger?”
“Let me have the food first” Malia said taking the plate from him. She opened it and took in a spoonful.
“Here” She said giving it back to him.
“Please, Help yourself. Eat it please”
“Why do you care?” Malia retorted
“Why would you care?” He was surprised and sad.
“….. I’m just a stranger so cut it out” Malia said
“No. You’re my celebrity.. So, I don’t wanna see you hurt. Please, Eat them all”
“I’m gonna gain weight. I’m sure”
“No. You are not”
“Huh? What makes you think so?” Malia asked
“I believe. Here, Eat” He said sitting down back with her. Malia sighed deeply and ate the whole food.
“Thirsty? Here?” He said.
“Uhhmm… Thank you” She replied taking it. She drank all at once.
“Care for an hamburger?” He asked. Malia sighed and shaked her head.
“Please? Take one. I don’t wanna eat mine alone” He whispered. Malia sighed and took one of the hamburgers while The Nerd took one.
They began eating as they watched the stars which glittered on the sky alongside the shiny moon. They smiled at each other while Malia swinged her long slim legs up and down as they ate.
