CHAPTER 15&16
Peyton started coughing and choking as a result of
what Nolan said.
“Are you okay?” Nolan asked,concerned.
“I…I’m fine” she stuttered.
“Sorry” Nolan said handing her a bottle of water.
Nolan kept staring at her,waiting for her to say
something about what he told her,but Peyton
didn’t.
Their eyes met again, and Peyton’s were fixed
deeply on his.
Those eyes are driving her nuts,it feels like a part
of her is lost in those eyes.
She tried not to look at them,but she just couldn’t,
and she can’t explain why this is happening.
One part of her is saying yes,the other is saying
no.
She was lost in her thoughts, and she definitely
didn’t know what to say.
“So,about what I said” Nolan finally brought her
back to her senses.
“I….I’m….sorry but….she wanted saying”I am not
interested, but she just found herself unable to say
it.
Peyton was having a mixed feeling, her heart is
saying yes,and at the same time no.
Her heart was beating,attempting to leave its rib
cage.
“Why is my heart beating this way?”
“I have to leave now,this is way too much for me
to handle”
“I need to be in my room” she said and rushed out
immediately.
Nolan tried calling her,but she was out already.
He was left in the room alone,disappointed.
He ruffled his hair,pacing around and trying to
control himself.
Nolan has never in his life felt this way for any
woman.
Could this be love for real,or he is just interested
in her body.
Nolan carried the food away from the bed and
placed it on the table,he already lost his appetite.
“How can she just leave without saying anything”
he ruffled his again, more like he’s going crazy.
“I guess she needs time to think,but her silence is
driving me nuts” he said.
He picked up his phone and dialed Gray.
Gray picked on the last ring.
“Hey man” what’s up? Gray asked at the other end.
“What’s up with you,how’s the restaurant? Nolan
asked.
“Great, man” it’s booming, people are trooping in
and out every minute,Gray said.
Nolan smiled when he heard that,he felt a bit
better.
Yes,Nolan left Gray in charge of the restaurant
while he’s away.
“Have you gone to visit the restaurant?” Gray
asked.
Nolan also has a restaurant where they are,a very
big one as a matter of fact. Way bigger than the
one he runs by himself.
“I’m planning on going there this evening” Nolan
said.
“You don’t sound happy” what’s going on? Gray
asked when he sensed Nolan’s mood from the
way he was talking.
“I’m fine” he simply said.
“What about your chef?” Gray asked,reminding him
of the event again.
“Umm,I will call you back” he said and hung up
immediately.

Peyton slumped on the bed heavily, her heart was
still beating fast even though she’s no longer
around Nolan.
“He’s in love with me?” This is crazy.
“I know he just wants me in his bed” there’s no
way I’m falling for that, Peyton said.
I can’t believe he lied about the competition, just
to get some stup!d alone time with me.
“I just cannot wait for this competition to be over,
I’m so gonna go home and quit this d@mn job”
Peyton kept saying until her phone started ringing.
It was Skai that was calling.
“Hey Pey” she said.
“Hello, Skai” she answered.
“How are you,and your boss?” Since you now love
your boss more than me,Skai joked.
At the sound of “love your boss” Peyton’s heart
skipped like she has just been caught committing
a crime.
She placed her hand on her chest,as if not wanting
it to pop out,cause it was palpitating too fast.
“Stop talking nonsense, Skai” she said, making
Skai giggle.
“I didn’t want to disturb your sleep,that’s why. I’m
sorry,she said.
“That’s fine,hope you’re having a good time with
your boss?
“Really, Skai?” Get off my phone,now! She yelled,
playfully.
Skai laughed.
“He’s here,byee” Skai said and hung up,leaving
Peyton to think.
“Who’s he” does she have a new boyfriend or
what? She thought.
*some minutes later*
Peyton was lying on the bed,still thinking about
Nolan.
A knock came on the door.
“Who’s there” she asked,but no response.
She hissed and heads for door,turned the door
knob and it creaked opened.
There, stood Nolan.
The first place her eyes went to was his eyes,then
his lips. Her heart betraying her again.
“Not again” she said as she could hear it beating.
If Nolan was close enough, he would have heard it
beating.
“Umm,I would be going out in an hour’s time to
visit my second restaurant” he said.
“Wait,he has another restaurant here?” Wow!
Peyton thought.
“I would love to show you around the city,and
show you my second restaurant too,if you don’t
mind” he continued, trying to force a smile.
“O…okay sir,I just go get ready” she said,forcing a
smile.
****THE MCKENZIE’S RESIDENCE****
“Hi” Skai said when Gray got in.
Gray is taking Skai on a date,he’s the one Skai was
referring to as”he’s here”.
“How are you,beautiful?” He asked and kissed her
on the forehead.
“You look incredible” he compliments.
“Thanks” Skai said smiling.
“Shall we” Gray asked, giving her his right hand to
hold.
And with that,they both left.
