Stephanie at that moment has never felt humiliated in her life the way she felt at that moment. She was just compared to a beggar, like the f-__-k!
The guards cackled at their Boss’s joke and that added more to Stephanie’s humiliation.
She clutched the hem of her dress tightly as rage flowed through her blood
Charles smirked as he continued staring at her. He faced one of the guards.
“Give her some money and throw her out” he ordered.
“Yes Boss” two boys tried to grab Stephanie’s arm but she stopped them.
“Don’t touch me” she glared.
She stared at Charles, her eyes lingering on his arm around Hailey’s waist. Her eyes went to Hailey’s and she found herself growing angrier.
She could recognize her as the lady she saw him with at the Gala.
Hailey noticed the way Stephanie was staring at her and she smirked inwardly.
“Sunshine,” she called slowly
Charles turned to her.
“Can you take me back to the room? I can’t seem to feel my legs anymore” she pouts.
Charles chuckled and swept her off as he carried her bridal style.
“Sure, Cara Mia” he winked.
“I don’t want to meet her here again or else I’ll ki|| you” he warned the guards.
He kissed Hailey briefly before walking back to the house.
“Grab her and throw her out,” a guy yelled.
Two guys grabbed Stephanie by the arm and hauled her out of the house roughly.
“Let go of me, don’t touch me with your filthy hands!” Stephanie screamed till they finally got outside. They threw her to the floor roughly and threw some cash at her.
“Use it to fend for yourself, you should be thankful that the Boss is nice to give you some money,” one of the guards said before entering the mansion.
The gate got locked immediately and Stephanie scoffed loudly in disbelief.
“Did Charles just do that to me?” She asked no one in particular.
“f-__-k, I won’t give up. That bìtch will surely pay” she screamed out in frustration.
She stood up and dusted her gown, she carried her bag and was about to walk away when she suddenly stopped.
She glanced at the money on the floor and smirked.
“This might as well be useful,” she said to herself. She bent and picked up the money before walking away.

Charles got to his room and dropped Hailey on her feet gently. Hailey moved away from him and gave him a questioning gaze.
“I know what you’re thinking, Cara,” he muttered.
“Glad you know that. So, who’s she? She can’t just come into your house anyhow. And see, turns out to be the lady who was gawking at you at the Gala” Hailey said.
“Who’s she, Charles? You guys seem to know each other” she added.
“She’s my Ex, but believe me Cara, she’s my past. I don’t have anything to do with her anymore” Charles quickly said.
“Your Ex? And I didn’t even know about her” she muttered, biting her lips.
“Cara,”
“Tell me everything about her, your relationship with her. How it ended, don’t leave any single thing out” Hailey said, staring at him with a serious expression.

WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN HIGH SCHOOL***
Wyatt stood outside the gate, stretching his head whenever he sees any student entering the school.
He sighed loudly and his shoulders fell flat when he saw no traces of Layla.
“Is she still mad at me?” He mumbled.
He was about to walk back to the class when he saw Jaime walking into the school. He rushed to him.
“What do you want this time around?” Jaime asked.
“I’m not here for trouble, but have you heard from Layla? She’s been absent from school for some days now and I’m so worried, it’s so unlike her” Wyatt said.
“And why are you telling me this?” Jaime asked.
“Because… She’s in love with you” Wyatt suddenly said.
Jaime was shocked.
“She told me herself. Look here, I know we’re not on good terms, but can you please let me know her whereabouts? Please Jaime, I’m begging you” Wyatt pleaded.
Jaime was silent for a while.
“Layla is currently in the hospital” he muttered.
“What?”
“She had an accident and…” He suddenly stopped and shut his eyes tight.
“She’s suffering from amnesia” he completed.
Wyatt staggered back in shock, staring at Jaime with his eyes wide open.

Alexa entered the house and Cecilia stood up, staring at her curiously.
“Any news?” She asked.
“Master has his boys combing the whole city for us,” Alexa said.
Cecilia’s shoulder slumped down and she sighed heavily.
“Erm, Ma’am?”
She faced Alexa.
“Heard Master is planning on going to Washington DC today”
Cecilia’s eyes widened.
“What?” Her eyes dilated and she could feel her heart thumping hard.
“That can’t be, oh no” she panicked silently.
“What’s wrong, Ma’am?” Alexa asked.
“Is there any way we can also go back to Washington?” Cecilia suddenly asked.
“Please this is urgent, help me and I promise to pay you back in any way I can” she pleaded.
Alexa stared at her.

Jace stared at his phone in disbelief. He couldn’t believe Charles didn’t pick up any of his calls. Worse still, he didn’t call back.
“Can’t believe he tossed me aside this way after everything I did for him” he muttered. He was the one who instructed the security to open the gate for Hailey if she came to Charles’ house.
He knew she was going to come so he already planned everything.
“Guess I’m invading their privacy after all” he mumbled, placing his phone back in his pocket.
He brought out his other phone whose screen was cracked and smiled as he remembered Sunny.
“I’d love to see her again” he muttered to himself.
“But how?” He sighed exasperatedly. This was the first time his heart was ever gonna beat for a lady.

“I was eighteen when I met Stephanie” Charles began and Hailey listened attentively. They were both sitting on the bed.
“Then, we were poor. We had nothing, my Mom abandoned us when I was eleven, Lilian was still a year old then” he suddenly stopped.
“Life was hard for us then, we hardly ate, and almost every day I was always unhappy till I met her, Stephanie. She lit my world, she was also poor but we were fine with it. I just got admitted into college, I was a freshman student then”
Hailey pinched her nails hard as she listened to him.
“We both fell in love and we started our relationship not too long after we met each other. My Dad was in approval of our relationship since she was the one who makes me happy a lot… That was in the past then, don’t misquote me, Cara” he suddenly said.
“Continue” Hailey simply muttered.
Charles sighed before he continued.
“While we were both in the relationship, Stephanie got pregnant for me though she hid from me….”
