“The problem here isn’t you, don’t you get it?” Adelia said.
“My mum?, That’s why I talked about protecting her, I’ll even give my life to protect her, I swear” Newton replied.
“You think you can protect her from the devil?, Young master you couldn’t even stop her from controlling your life” Matteo said.
“My life and my love life, I’ve decided to separate them, she might be able to manipulate my life,but not my love life, trust me”
“But…
“Mum, do you want to see me die?, I can’t live without him too!” November chipped in.
“I’m doing this for you Ember!, The first lady is too scary!, Everyone knows how creepy she can be!, I don’t want anything to happen to you, I don’t want to lose you, this relationship is lethargic” Adelia said.
“You think I was joking when I said I can’t live without him?” November replied seriously.
A loud thud made them look at Newton.
He fainted already!
“Bunny!” November shouted and rushed to him.
He’s even shaking unconsciously, flu must have eaten deep into him.
“Silver!, Silver!” She shook him but his eyes remained closed.
She looked over at her parents.
“Let’s get him in!!” She shouted and they both rushed to them.
Newton was taken in and November attended to him in her room.
The doorbell rang downstairs immediately.
Adelia and Matteo exchanged glances.
“Who again?” Adelia said.
They both rushed downstairs and were shocked to meet the governor by the door.
One of his guards was holding an umbrella to his head, and he’s smiling graciously.
“Mr governor!” Matteo quickly bowed.
Adelia bowed respectfully too, governor John smiled wider.
“I’m not worthy of having you in my house” Matteo said.
“My son actually invited me over” John replied and Matteo quickly looked up.
“Huh?”
“About the relationship between him and your daughter, I saw how he begged till he passed out in the rain”
“We’re so sorry for making that happen, we didn’t mean to be headstrong about it, but…
“The first lady?” Governor John replied.
“Yes Mr governor”
“Please come in Mr governor” Matteo said quickly, realizing how long he has been standing.
He stepped into the house and kept his smiling face as he looked around.
“What if I promise to protect them both, from her?” He faced Matteo.
“Mr governor..
“I know how scary she can be, so I understand your fears, but I’m still her husband, and I’m still the governor, she can’t be more powerful, so trust me” he interrupted.
Matteo looked at Adelia and they both returned their gaze to him.
“I’m giving you my word” he reassured.
“Please sit” Adelia gestured at a couch, he obliged.
November came downstairs and her eyes widened when she saw him.
“Mr governor!” She quickly rushed down the remaining stairs and bowed in front of him.
“Daughter-in-law” he replied and she smiled.
“I’m so shocked right now, I wasn’t expecting you to….” She said and he smiled.
“Is he fine?” He asked.
“Silver?, Yes, though he’s still asleep” she replied.
“He’s someone who loves the rainwater as a kid, he’ll always want to play inside the rain, he was always happy whenever the clouds starts gathering, and no matter how much he plays in the rain, he never catches the flu” John said with a light heave.
“But after he consumed the poison last year, things never remained the same, the strong Newton became so weak, he can’t even shout without bleeding, I blame myself for being sick, that’s why I couldn’t protect him from Sawyer” he continued.
November blinked once, holding her hands together.
John looked at them.
“I might pass away sooner than expected” he said.
“No!, No Mr governor, I believe your sickness is a phase you must pass through, that’s why it’s happening, don’t say that please” Matteo quickly replied.
“If my death comes, please take care of my son, and if possible…my daughter too, Keaton” John smiled
“Nothing will happen to you anytime soon , please don’t talk this way anymore” November said.
“I’m happy he got to be with a pretty knowledgeable girl from a good family, promise me you won’t let go of him” John said.
November knelt in front of him and held his right hand.
“I promise, Mr governor” she smiled, and he hugged her immediately.
Matteo looked at Adelia and they smiled in relief.

NEXT MORNING**
Newton was surprised to see the light of a new day when he woke up.
He quickly sat up on the bed and his eyes widened when he saw he’s wearing new clothes.
“Wait…I passed out in the rain last night?, In my in-laws house?, Gawd!, I’m such a wipeout!, f_ck!” He grunted, falling back on the bed again.
“Bunny you’re awake!” November came in and he sat up again.
“Muffin, tell me I’m dreaming, I didn’t pass out, right?” He said quickly.
November smiled and climbed the bed.
She felt his temperature.
“It’s back, your fever is gone” she said.
“Fever?”
“Yeah, you had fever last night as a result of the flu” she replied.
“How will I face your parents again?, I f_cking passed out in front of them, I’m not that weak but I h@ťě rainwater, it’s too cold and it causes flu” he said cutely.
“Then why did you kneel in the rain?”
“I just wanted to show my seriousness” he replied and she smiled.
“Why?, Is it funny?” He asked.
“You’re just cute” she replied and held his face, kissing him lightly.
“Goodmorning baby” she said.
He blushed like a girl and she laughed.
“Mr governor came over last night” she said.
“Dad came?”
“Yes, so you need to brush right now, mum made you breakfast” she replied, pulling him out of bed.
“What did my dad and your parents talk about?” He asked when they got into the bathroom.
“You need to brush” she replied.
“Come on tell me!!, I’m so curious!” He said and she got him a new toothbrush.
She plastered the paste on it and gave it to him.
“Help me brush” he said and she smiled.
“Say ha”
“Ha” he replied, opening his mouth.
Instead of inserting the brush into his mouth, she stained his nose with the paste.
“You look like periwinkle!, Clown!” She mocked in laughter.
He looked at his stained nose in the mirror and faced her
“Come here” he said but she ran away before he got to her.
He started chasing her around the bathroom.
“Clown!!, My boyfriend is a clown!!” She sang sillily, dodging him.
“Gracie!!” He shouted and she laughed harder as he came for her again.
She got to the wall and turned to quickly dodge to another corner but he caught her there.
He wrapped his arms on her waist, trapping her.
They’re both breathing heavily as a result of the play.
“Your punishment for making me run this hard will be an hard kiss later” he said and she smiled.
“I can’t wait”
He kissed her neck and the door opened, Adelia peeped in.
His eyes widened but he quickly hid his face on November’s shoulder.
“Come downstairs for breakfast” Adelia said, smiling at his cuteness.
“Yes, mother-in-law” he replied and she smiled before leaving.
“Are you that shy to face her?” November laughed when he brought up his face.
“Maybe” he pouted.
He later brushed and they went downstairs together.
Adelia and Matteo were already at the dinning room.
They joined them and Adelia got the cutleries.
He took from the omelette and offered him.
He looked at her and she nodded.
He looked at November and she urged him to take it
He turned his neck to Matteo, Matteo smiled.
He opened his mouth and Adelia fed him.
Adelia continued feeding him, and if any slight stain appears on his lips, she wipes it.
“I’ve always wanted to feed my son-in-law like this” she suddenly said and Newton quickly faced her.
“Take good care of my daughter, Newton Knight” she smiled.
“Huh?” He said shockingly.
“Yes, if she cries, you’ll cry” Matteo added and Newton spranged up.
“Yes!” He jumped hugging Adelia immediately.
“I love you so much mother-in-law!”
She rushed to hug Matteo too.
“I love you father-in-law, so much!”
November smiled, wishing they’d remain happy like this forever.
