Chapter 55
Hazel walked into the sitting room and slumped onto the chair, tossing her handbag on the round transparent glass table. She sighed like she was stressed out and looked at Logan who was already seated at the other end.
“Why did you call me to come here so late at night? Don’t tell me you didn’t trust that I would keep the truth away from Dad? I mean I have said nothing the whole day, I don’t even think I have seen those oldies today anyway. That is by the way, what was that weird feeling I had today? I thought something was wrong with you, I tried calling but your number wouldn’t go through, then a few minutes later you called me sounding perfectly normal and requesting that I come over immediately,” she rattled.
Logan paused and scratched his head, trying to figure out which question to answer first. Hazel was always unstable with words whenever she wasn’t in a good mood.
“Um, I got in a fight earlier, which must have been the disturbance you felt but don’t worry, I am fine, thanks to someone who is the reason why I called you here,” Logan replied.
There was curiosity on Hazel’s face after he said that. She was clearly curious to know who he had made her travel a whole hour to come and meet.
Logan turned back and just then, Elijah walked out from the dining room into the sitting room. “Hey,” he said with a smile.
Hazel stood up with wide eyes; she took one slow step after the other until she got to Elijah who was still smiling at her, then in a split second, she slapped the smile off his face. The sound of the slap was so loud that it could be heard from the front gate, some furniture in the house even shook from the effect of it and someone as temperamental as Logan found his jaw dropped in shock.
“Okay, I totally deserved that,” Elijah said and rubbed his cheeks with his palm, it had gone from pale to blushing red.
“What are you doing here?” Hazel yelled, “Wait, what is he doing here?” She turned to Logan immediately.
“I can explain,” Elijah said immediately.
“Yes, he can explain,” Logan said in support.
“Wait, what?” Hazel yelled. “You are not supporting him, are you?”
“Huh? No, definitely not, he is all yours,” Logan replied immediately in a sputter of words and turned the other way.
“Good,” Hazel said and turned back to Elijah with an angry face. “Now back to you, did you think you could get away from the Stewarts? Did I not warn you not to cross my brother or you would be gone?” she said in a rush and snapped her fingers at him.
“I am sorry, just let me explain…” Elijah pleaded.
“I don’t want your explanation, it is too late for that, you are just trying to gain sympathy so that Logan doesn’t ki|| you. “She turned around to Logan again, “I think you should ki|| him,” she suggested.
“Oh, okay.” The Alpha replied and let out his claws while heading for them.
“Wait, what?!!” they both screamed and Hazel stood in front of Elijah immediately to protect him.
“I thought you wanted me to ki|| him?” Logan asked with wrinkled eyebrows, not like he really wanted to ki|| the vampire, he just knew his sister wouldn’t let him do it.
“Noo, wait yes I said it but Noo,” she whined, still standing in front of Elijah
“Thank you,” Elijah said in relief.
“Hey you shut up and speak only when I want you to,” Hazel retorted to the vampire.
“Okay Ma’am,” he said and threw his hands in the air.
Logan then walked to them and held his sister’s shoulders, he made her turn and face him. “Hazel, I know that you are mad at him but he made the right call and decided to return. He had sworn to me that he didn’t show anyone the book and that he only stole it because he was compelled to do so. His feelings towards you are real, Hazel. I for one know that you know it, you can feel it and that is why you stopped me from ki||ing him right now.
Look, I am not going to tell you what to do because like I told father, you are no longer a kid, you are a full grown adult and you can make your own decisions. But however, as your brother who loves you, I suggest you give him a second chance, he has made a mistake and broke your trust, give him the chance to earn it,” Logan said in an appealing voice.
There was quietness in the room for a few minutes and then Hazel spoke. “He is a vampire and you h@ťě them so much, you also don’t give second chances, so why do you suddenly think he deserves one?”
Logan smiled at that question as it reminded him of someone. “Well, for starters he saved my life, even if he had something to gain from that, there must be little good in him for him to do that. Also, I learnt from someone that everyone deserves a second chance, and that I shouldn’t be judgmental because no one is perfect. I have learnt to see the light in people even if they are filled with darkness. I was ignorant then, but thanks to Orla, I know better,” he explained in a soft and emotional voice.
Hazel smiled. “I knew it, you sound like someone that isn’t you, but I like what she had done with you,” she said.
“Okay gross, can we talk about me?” Elijah asked with a wrinkled face.
The Stewart siblings turned to him simultaneously with crumpled faces. “I thought I was clear about not talking till I said so?” Hazel queried.
“I am trying to help you here. Do you want a second chance or not Dude?” Logan asked and spread his arms in curiosity.
“Okay, mouth sealed.” Elijah said and held his lips together with his fingers
“Good, now this is my decision. I am going to give you a second chance and you will have to earn my lost trust, trust me it will be harder this time than you imagine,” she informed him.
“You don’t trust me and yet you just asked me to trust you?” Elijah said jokingly and chuckled, making the Stewart twins frown again. Looks like they would just have to deal with his funny genes and largemouth
“Okay, that was the last one, I will do wh@ťěver you say,” he said and sealed his lips again.
Logan sighed and bumped his fist on his face, while Hazel growled. She began to walk towards him and he took steps backwards till his back was against the wall. He might be stronger but she definitely scared him.
“Now listen here Eli, if you want me to trust you again, you will have to change everything about your life. For starters, you will have to stay here with my brother and go to work with him for a month.” She stated.
“Oh, so I just have to accompany him to the office like an escort? Cool, I always wanted to be a bodyguard,” Elijah said quickly and chuckled.
Hazel groaned and rubbed her temple with her face down. “No dummy, you wouldn’t be an escort, you will work for him in the office and for free, you will live here where he can keep an eye on you and you won’t do anything without his permission,” she announced.
“Wait, what? So you are turning me into a servant?” he grumbled
“Are you in or out, I could change my mind and throw you out of here,” she screamed
“Okay fine… I will do wh@ťěver you say,” he consented immediately.
“Good boy,” she said and rubbed his hair like a kid. “I am going to get some rest, you better not follow me,” she said and Elijah smirked.
Hazel walked away while Logan was left standing there like a third wheel; they had just made decisions with his life without even asking for his opinion. Now he had to be burdened with this loquacious vampire, the next thirty days wouldn’t be easy, especially with Orla out of town.
“Alright great talk man, I need to use the toilet,” Elijah said and also walked away in the same direction as Hazel.
“The bathroom is this way!!” Logan screamed but he had already sped off. “Oh good lord, spare my soul,” Logan said with a groan. God save him or he would lose his mind, especially when the only thing that gave him peace was away from him- his soul mate!!
