FINAL CHAPTER
“This must be a joke right?”Alfred asked.
“Why would I make a joke out of this situation. Am Fannie!”She said as the tears poured from her eyes.
“You aren’t Fannie. Even if you are . You don’t feel like her. Your hair, your scent and even the way you talk is different from Fannie”He said.
Knowing that it would be hard to convince him. She walked the few distance that separatedq them and kissed his lips.
Alfred was taken by surprise and if it hadn’t been for the way she kissed him. He would have pushed her away but instead he pulled her close. Returning her kiss.
Fannie felt like staying in his arms a while longer but she couldn’t. They still have a lot to discuss. She thought as she moved away from him.
“Fannie”He called softly.
“Just knowing that you still remember my kisses give me so much joy”She said.
“What did you do to yourself?”He asked.
“I did what I could to be by your side. You were giving up on life and I didn’t want that. You didn’t want me close and so I had to pretend to be someone else just to achieve that”She said.
“It’s been you with me all along”He muttered.
“Yes it’s been me and I got to realise now that my being here isn’t doing you any good”Fannie stated.
“Fannie I…..”
“I don’t want you living your life in regret just like you said and so I will be giving you two options Alfred!”She said as sniffed back the tears that thr_@tened to pour.
“If you refuse on having the operation then I will stay here. I will stay with you and won’t ever leave but if you have the operation. I will leave your life just like you want” She offered.
“I won’t stay to listen to your answer. Your decision will tell me what I want. Take care of yourself”She added and left the room in a rush.
“What’s wrong?”Tiffany asked.
“I told him the truth”Fannie replied crying and wanting to console the poor girl. Tiffany hugged.
“Did he take it bad?”Tiffany asked her a while later when she stopped crying.
“He didn’t but I think you should go to him. He will tell you what he wants to do”Fannie suggested.
“I prefer to stay with you and….”
“Just go to Alfred. He will want to tell you his decision about the surgery”She said interrupting Tiffany.
Tiffany went into the ward while Fannie stayed in the waiting room. She desperately want him to choose the first option but she couldn’t be selfish. Wh@ťěver decision he picks will be enough for her. She thought as she unknowingly crossed her fingers.
“Good news Fannie! Alfred will have the surgery. He will have the surgery!”Tiffany said happily as she rushed towards her to give her a hug.
He made his decision. She thought as she hugged Tiffany while she forced a smile on her face.
“The nurses are preparing everything. Two days from now he will be operated on and he will be able to see us again”Tiffany gushed out excitedly not noticing the sad look on Fannie face.
“That’s great”Fannie replied.
“Have got to fill in a report”Tiffany said as she left Fannie alone.
“It’s time I leave” Fannie muttered as she stood up. Alfred made his decision and so she must keep to her promise. She thought as she left the hospital. Returning to Alfred house to take her stuffs.
TWO MONTHS LATER
???
“Hey it’s been two months since you’ve gone there. Won’t you come back?”Dora asked through the receiver.
“I will come back sometime soon”Fannie replied.
“You said the same thing to me a week ago. When would the sometime soon be?”Dora asked.
“Am still not sure but I will make sure I come back before your baby clocks one”Fannie stated.
“Thanks for reminding me about that! How can you not come back knowing that have given birth?”Dora asked and Fannie smiled.
“That’s why am saying that I will be back before she clocks one” Fannie returned.
“That won’t do. Just come back home already. If you are still thinking about Alfred. I will advise you to stop it. It’s his loss for not wanting you in…..”
“Let’s not talk about Alfred. I didn’t call so I could talk about him”Fannie said cutting her off.
“Have you finally decide to move on from him?”Dora asked not wanting to listen to her friend.
“I have. My staying here is getting rid of the feeling I have for Alfred. So am moving on from him”Fannie replied knowing Dora wouldn’t stop nagging her.
“Now that I hear that I kind of feel sad”Dora said.
“Why would you be feeling that way? You should be happy with my decision cause am very much happy with it. Just take care of our little baby and once my sometime soon is over. I will be back. Have got to go. Call you later”Fannie said as she quickly end the call before Dora could further ask her more questions.
Fannie took a deep breath as she looked around her. She was at the beach and a lot of people were there too doing their thing.
This is more better than her having to stay in her room alone. It’s been two month since she last heard from Alfred.
Just like he wanted. She left his life and knowing that he didn’t do anything to get her back into his life hurts. She intentionally told Dora where she was heading because she had a feeling that Alfred would come looking for her but he never did.
Two weeks after Alfred surgery and also her arrival in Miami. She got a text from Tiffany who told her that Alfred is seeing again and also a text asking her to call. Fannie never called her and Tiffany never texted again.
She had been feeling hurt by his insistence on not having her in his life and so she got rid of her phone. Bought a new one. There will be no way for her to contact them and there would be no way for them to do the same.
She had made that decision two months ago but she had secretly waited for Alfred call. Hoping that he would come to Miami to see her but that was dashed away when she didn’t get a call or anything for another month.
Today begins another month. A month which she has made a vow to forget the past and move on. It’s the reason why she told Dora not to tell her anything about Alfred again. She will forget the past and start afresh. Who knows she might meet someone she would be able to open her to again. She thought as she gently kicked a stone on the floor.
It was getting cold. She decided to go back to her hotel room to get her coat before going to the restaurant to have her dinner.
She got back to her suite only to see that the door was unlocked. That’s odd. She had locked the door when she left earlier. Could someone have broken in or perhaps it could be one of the hotel staff. She thought as she shook off the dangerous feeling.
This hotel is the best when it comes to security. She thought as she went into the suite.
She didn’t bother putting on the lights. She went straight to her ward robe to take her coat. So she could go for dinner but didn’t get as far as taking the coat when someone wrapped his arm around her.
She screamed as she tried to pull free but when she heard the voice of her attacker. She stopped.
“Alfred?”She called and he let go of her to put on the light.
“It’s me”He replied looking straight at her.
“You are much more pretty with your hair in its usual form”He added confirming that he could see her.
Her hair had grown back to its usual length though she had decided to get it cut today but with Alfred being here. That is the least of her concern.
” What are you doing here? How did you get in?”She asked.
“The receptionist was kind enough to give me your room key when I told her that i am your husband”He said grinning at her.
“Why would you lie about something like that?”She asked
“I wanted to see you?”He replied
“See me about what. From what I know we’ve said everything two months ago”She said.
“We didn’t. You left even before we could talk”
“That’s because you made your decision and the decision you made wanted me out of your life which I willingly accept”.
“I didn’t want you to leave. I never wanted that!”He said
“You made your decisi…..”
“To hell with the decision. It was an option you stated down. An option which I didn’t pick any”He said cutting her off.
“You chose to have the surgery which meant that you don’t want me in your life”she said reminding him of the decision he made.
“I didn’t choose any of your option because I came up with one of my own”he replied.
“One of your own? “she asked doubtfully and he nodded.
“Get the surgery and marry Fannie”He said bringing tears into her eyes.
“I was so happy to tell you my decision when I asked Tiffany to call for you. You were already gone. We thought you just went back home to get some things but you didn’t show up the next day and then the next. The operation took place and I didn’t wake up for a week due to the side effect of the surgery. When I finally did. I asked of you and got Tiffany to send you a text since you refused to pick up her call but then your line was cut off”
“You made it seem like you wanted me out of your life and I didn’t blame you. After all I had been ranting about how I wanted to keep you away which I suceedded in doing”
“For the past two month have been at the hospital because the doctor wanted me to fully recover. I got out last week and flew here this morning to see you” He added.
“I didn’t know and I thought…..I thought that you didn’t want me anymore and….. ”
“I love you Fannie. Ever since the first day you came into my home to steal. You manage to steal my heart. I know I acted like a jerk when I was blind but am here to make it up to you. Only if you will accept me”He said while he waited for her response.
Wiping the tears off her face. She walked the distance that separated them. Going straight into his arms.
“You have no idea how much have wished for this moment. I love you Alfred and I desperately want you back in my life”She replied as she gazed up at him with love.
He kissed her and she returned the kiss. Wanting and needing more from him. She began to unbutton his shirt but he stopped her.
“Before we get to that part. I want to give you this “He said bringing out a ring.
“Is it what I think?”She asked softly.
“It is and this time it will be happening. As soon as this ring is in your finger. You are mine for the rest of your life”He declared fiercely.
“Put it on me”Fannie said giving him his response and as soon as he gave her the ring. He lifted her in his arms. Taking her to the bed.
“You are mine Fannie. Mine forever”He muttered.
“I belong to you and you alone Alfred”She muttered as he kissed her to silence.
