Chapter 48.
Orla stares at the segz toys she had hidden away in the closet; well, she didn’t want Hazel to see it why she was here, so she had to hide it away. She sighed heavily and looked away from them, she locked the closet door and then lifted her luggage.
Hazel had already left very early that morning; she said she needed to get home on time for an occasion that her father was hosting. Orla didn’t mention it to her that she was going away, let alone tell her where she was going, she didn’t want anyone to know of her condition and either pity her or mock her.
Logan was enough and she trusted him with her secret, she could deal with it if word got out that she used to be a segz worker, but if Logan’s family learnt that she was a nymphomaniac, then they would never accept her, it would be a bigger issue to handle and might result in Logan fighting with his family for her sake, she didn’t want that.
Just then, the door opens and Logan walks in. “Hey, are you ready?” he asked in a solemn voice.
Even Logan was hurt, he knew that he was going to miss her and a part of him didn’t want to let her go, but he knew it was for the best, so he had to act like a man, he had to be strong for her; she needed his as a pillar of support in this trying period.
Orla nodded softly and headed towards him with her bags, she got closer and Logan took the bags from her. She was oddly cold and quiet today and it was very understandable; she was about to be separated from the love of her life for over thirty days and not just any thirty days, but the most difficult thirty days of her life.
Logan kissed Orla on the forehead and forced a smile. “It is all going to be fine, Orla, everything will be fine, I promise,” he said and she nodded.
They walk to the car with Logan leading the way, Orla gets emotional as she gets in the car and she starts to cry; she was seated beside Logan at the front. Logan had to delay the journey in order to console her, he kept promising her that everything would be fine, he assured her.

Eight hours later

The entire Stewart family is seated at the dining table, they were celebrating a werewolf festival that takes place a week before a lunar eclipse; it was believed to appease the goddess of the moon to keep them alive through the Lunar eclipse because werewolves got their powers and abilities from the moon, so when there is an eclipse and the moon is completely gone, many foes like their vampire neighbors could use the opportunity to attack and maim them.
Their enemies would always take advantage of the lunar eclipse which left the werewolves powerless to ki|| them, so they always had this celebration to pray to the goddess and ask her to keep them safe during that period.
The dining table today was rather unease and cold today and this was due to the presence of a vampire within them. Yes, Elijah was here, Logan was able to convince his father to let the vampire join and to permit him to date Hazel.
Well, it wasn’t easy convincing the old man, he had so much hatred for the nightwalkers that it took a lot to convince him. Logan had told him that Elijah was different, that he was not like the rest of his kind.
Truth was that Logan didn’t trust Elijah either, he had only done that because of his sister, he just hoped she wasn’t being misguided because his father would have him to blame if something went wrong.
He had not only vouched for the vampire who he was yet to meet but he also convinced his father that Hazel was old enough to make her own decisions as in regards to her relationships, so she would also bear the consequences if things went wrong in that angle.
However, his father had warned him that Hazel might be responsible for her heartbreak if she gets betrayed, but Logan would be responsible if the Vampire does anything to harm the werewolf pack while he was here, so in other words, Elijah was Logan’s responsibility for as long as he was here.
The family wouldn’t even look at the handsome looking vampire with good eyes, all the servants tried hard to distance themselves from him when serving meals and the family members both by blood and honor sat as far away from him as possible, the only people close to him at the dining were Logan and his twin sister.
Even though Logan was sitting in the same row and just a chair apart from him, he was not really at ease with the vampire in their house, probably because they were not used to such visitors; A Vampire in the Stewart Mansion? It has never happened in the last century or so.
Logan’s father would toss a question at Elijah every now and then and watch his countenance and expression as he replied so as to know if he was lying, the old man might have permitted but down in his heart, he had not approved. In fact, this was just a test, and he hoped that Elijah failed so he could throw him out of their castle, but that didn’t happen.
Elijah answered every question honestly, he replied with a smile on his face to every of their query and didn’t seem pissed off by the countless questions thrown at him, or the fact that most of them were staring at him like he was some monster.
One of Logan’s distant cousins, a female who was just nine, stared at him in discomfort as he ate the chunk of meat served on his table. She obviously saw him as a flesh ripping, blood sucking monster which practically was what he was, just not the way they made it seem.
