Chapter Thirty Five
“Who is Andrew?”He asked as he held her in his arms.
Claire stared at him wanting to tell him that he is Andrew but she stopped knowing, she would be going fast in doing so.
“My husband. I was so scared for a while that I thought you were him. Am sorry”She said as she stood up quickly.
“I shouldn’t have come out side but It was too noisy in there and I needed some fresh air and so I….”
“Am sorry. I should have been more attentive. I invited you here and I didn’t pay you any attention. Am sorry”He said looking exactly like the Andrew she knew.
She would have give anything to tell him that he is Andrew but she stopped herself again.
“If you are sorry why don’t you take me for the outing you promised?”She said using the situation for her own benefit.
“You still want to go?”He asked
“I want to”she replied quickly.
“Fine then. I will just tell them that I need to leave and will come to you in a jiffy”He said as he went into the club leaving the guard with her.
Knowing that she would be spending some time with him certainly made her feel safe.
They both visited the tourist area in Singapore and she enjoyed learning more about the country and she also enjoyed the fact that Andrew was by her side being a perfect gentle man and also earning more of her love.
They visited a famous restaurant and while they ate. She got to learn more about him.
Apparently he is a big time playboy in Singapore. He takes the company seriously and also lives from one party to party.
Lucia has mould him into someone different. He is different from the Andrew she knew and loved.
They were laughing over something Andrew said when a lady came to their table.
The lady gave all her attention to Andrew. Clearly ignoring Claire and while she flirted with Andrew , he seemed to be enjoying it and Claire could feel herself getting jealous.
While they kept on chatting, she stood up, excusing herself to visit the rest room.
She took her time hoping that by the time she returns to the restaurant the lady would have left.
She returned only to see her giving Andrew a kiss on the lips before sauntering off. Claire held back her anger and walked to the table with a smile on her face. Prepared to act like everything was okay but seeing the lady lipgloss on Andrew lips infuriated her.
“Let’s order their sea food. You will really…..”
“I think that it’s best we leave. I want to see the beach. You promised to take me there”She said as she stood up without waiting for his response.
Surprised by her sudden request, he quickly payed and went after her.
A while later they were walking on the beach barefooted. The air drifting towards her made her feel good.
She stepped on a stone and would have fallen if Andrew hadn’t held her back.
“Are you okay? “He asked looking worried
“I am”She replied as he let go of her.
“You know you are just like my husband”She said softly.
“It’s not good to be compared to the dead”He replied.
“I know. But what if I told you that my husband didn’t die” She said and he turned to stare at her.
“Why? Why do you say so? Is there a proof that he is still Alive?”He asked.
“There is. There is a proof. That’s the reason why am still here”She said
“Then you should be spending your time looking for him”
“Are you indirectly telling me that you don’t want to be saddled with me again?”She asked
“No. That’s not what I meant. Like I said, I didn’t know much about you when you came with Susan but after doing a check. I finally got to know more about you”
“A woman who is willing to mourn her husband and keep his ring close to her is a woman worth it. Am sure that wherever your husband may be now. He will be very proud to know that his wife is a very loyal one. If I think of settling down someday. Then someone like you will be my first choice”he said as his words made her sad.
She stared at him silently as he checked his watch.
“I think it’s time we leave. I still have something to do”He said as he began to head back to the car.
“Wait!”She said suddenly and he stopped to stare at her.
“I have to tell you something”She said
“And what will that be?”He asked
“Remember I told you that something is keeping me here?”She asked
“I remember ”
“That thing has to do with you”She said
“Me?I don’t understand”He asked totally confused
“My husband didn’t die like i thought because he is the one standing in front of me”she said and he stood still for a second starring every where else until he stared at her again.
“Where is he?”He asked and she walked the few distance that separated them.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a kiss. He was slow to react because he was caught unaware but then he recovered quickly and pushed her away from him.
“What did you do that for?”He asked as he wiped his lips.
It hurt seeing him react that way but she won’t give up. She has come this far and she will keep on going.
“It’s because you are my Husband. The one I thought dead. My husband. Andrew Black.”
